Wild Listening! Let's explore

Wild Listening!
Happy Juicy Tuesday Lovely!

There is still room in my women's workshop - Holistic Healing, a Creative Process. We get started on 23rd April, just a few spaces left and sign up is right now.

The Stiggly Spring Cleanse is starting soon! We kick off on May 7th but sign up asap.

If you have been reading Juicy Tuesday for a while now you will know that I'm really interested in looking at life and wellness from a very holistic perspective. And I mean that in it's truest sense. We have come to connect "holistic" with eating lots of kale, or having a strong yoga practice, but when you look at the word it really means "whole". Whole picture. When we turn our head a different angle and look at something with a fresh perspective, it's amazing what we might discover. And this is why I love to invite guest columnists to write for Juicy Tuesday. It's always good for us to use different tools, find new teachers and shake things up.

Wild Listening!
Today's guest author is a beautiful healer & educator from Brooklyn, NY - Laura Joviala. I've had the pleasure of taking voice lessons from her and experienced her holistic approach to wellness. I found her wisdom and gentleness to be a very healing balm and lots of "interesting" stuff showed up for me. (Side note, I thought she would make me sing, which made my knees knock together at the very thought, but it was SO much deeper than that! And it wasn't scary at all, Laura is just lovely!
Next month I am honoured and excited to be hosting her "Wild Listening" workshop in the East Village. We will meet on three Wednesday evenings - the 2nd, 9th & 23rd May (yes we skip a week), from 6-9pm. The class is limited to 10 women*. There is no charge for this pilot workshop but you must commit to all three evenings. Herbal tea will be served and you may feel free to bring something to eat since we will be meeting during dinner time. RSVP only.  *In case you are thinking it's always about the women, Laura is currently formulating a men's group, starting soon.
I leave you now in Laura's trusty hands to learn more, and I hope to see you in class! Even if you don't live locally, there is profound wisdom in these words so get yourself a cuppa tea and enjoy. Take it away Laura:
Happy Spring friends of Sacha & Stiggly!
The sun and flowers are breathing new life into our surroundings, which always makes me feel so profoundly connected to the earth and everyone around me. Don't your heart and body open so much more freely in this open breathing blossoming space?
My heart and body are immersed in change and questions and in a timely fashion, I have begun a pilot series of workshops that arose out of a lifelong unknown.
The first time I felt it, I was standing in a corn field. A bold blue October sky and I were all there was. I felt myself balloon to fill and expand to become the whole world. I floated like peace and quiet. I did not know the word awe

Just as suddenly, terror overcame me, as I felt how small I suddenly seemed.
At the same time, I was EVERYTHING & I was so, so small.
From then on, I was vigilant for anything that brought me closer to that experience. Although I was not aware of that ongoing search, retrospect reveals its presence.
Fast forward 60 years, when my perspective of myself suddenly shifts from identity to process, and I recognize my nature had been shaped by that early experience, leaving a permanent impression that informs my perspective and my way of living. In other words, it directs where I put my attention. It is my default mode. That early experience has also raised the most important question in my life: What is it to be human? What were those two parts of me that I experienced?
I wonder if you have had an analogous experience? Something unknown, unfamiliar to you has touched you so profoundly, your very nature has been formed around it. In effect, you cannot look away. It is a living question for you. So you watch and listen for the answer. Like an animal in the wild who stills itself to listen.
The way I've worked and played throughout my life has almost always involved perceiving the world in a way I describe as wild listening - like an animal in the still and silent wilderness. I discovered how the unknown and silent spoke to me. I came to feel a familiarity with this presence and have the sense it both knows and needs me. That we can work together in the same world, but in different ways. Can it be that we are both the tiny listener and the vast wilderness, the endless unknown?
Wild listening, imagination, selective attention and memory all allow for a subtle and gentle approach to the unknown. They allow us to be still with, and attune ourselves to, this silent wilderness we so easily forget we are a part of. There have been many times that I have resisted or avoided something out of fear, or tried to muscle my way through in bravado. The part of our brain with plans, solutions, strategies can feel threatened by a sense of insecurity; and rightly so: it is out of a job for the time during which we put our attention elsewhere. We needn't worry. It obviously needs a break. All that trying, trying, going, going!
On the other hand, the "wild", which does not respond to pushing, trying and willpower, meets us halfway and yields results we could not have imagined when we become still and listen. Think of animals in the wild.
We are more similar than different to them. Parts of us do not respond to willpower or pressure. Remember those times you finally let go, and almost out of nowhere a solution or insight arose? Or comfort came your way? Or what you had perceived as a problem became a non-problem, or even good news? How can we expand our awareness of this possibility present in life? How do we remember to remember it in the midst of so much busyness, so much that clamors for our attention?
Workshop:
I want to come together with others who sense that the time is right, and we are ripe for this collective conversation. I hope that by gathering together to practice ways of listening to this unknown, we may begin to map out the nature of this profoundly mysterious part of life and expand our relationship to it. I see that by sharing our stories of our experience with this "great unknown", we slowly begin to acquire more knowledge of its existence and its place in all our lives, how each of us and all of us relate to it, how we learn to be more aware of where we are putting our attention, what we need to listen to and when, how we can develop our living sense of inter-relationship within ourselves, with each other and with our Mother Nature. In this workshop we'll learn and practice the skill of "deep" or "wild" listening. Together we'll explore ways to embrace the process of listening as part of creative living.

If this resonates with you and you are in the NYC area, please contact Laura. You can read more from Laura here. Her Facebook page is right here And you can RSVP to the workshop by dropping her a line @ laurajoviala@yahoo.com
About: Laura Joviala lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Michael Joviala, where they are both teaching artists. Laura teaches voice as a byproduct of wild listening, from which her workshop has mysteriously materialized. She finds being human fascinating and believes we are stardust⭐️

Lots of good stuff in the works as spring is springing!
I hope I see you in one of my classes or for Laura's workshop, or just around the neighbourhood soon.
with so much love xxx

what if things could be easier!?

What if things could be easier?
Happy Juicy Tuesday Beautiful,

The other day we got our kitchen knives sharpened! We don't do this nearly as often as we ought, but every time we get to it we promise we'll do it more frequently, because it's just SO good! (If you haven't done this in a while, put it on your list.)

The first cut I made with the newly sharp knife was so dreamy. Instead of that usual extra push required from my arm strength, the knife just cut that lemon in two like it was buttah! Amazing.

And the first thing I thought was how this was a little bit like a metaphor for all of life stuff. There ARE often ways we can make things easier. But we don't always look for those options. Sometimes we keep doing things the hard way, the way that requires a little, or a lot, of extra oomph on our part. Maybe it's "the way we've always done it" (we can be creatures of habit), or maybe it just never occurred to us to do it any other way.

But what if we could make things easier? What if we asked for help more often, and worked with others to achieve our goals and dreams?

That's what my work is all about. And working with a group of motivated, like-minded souls is a little bit like getting your knives sharpened. It helps to cut through the hard stuff!

Perhaps you would like to join my women's group this spring and maybe some of that hard stuff will become just a little bit easier?

Here is a recap in case you missed the details.

How does it work?
- It doesn't matter where you live, as long as you have a computer and internet access. This is a global class for women who are able to communicate easily in English and who are interested in personal growth, healing & change.
- We meet as a group via a conferencing call program once per month.
- We have a private/secret online group where we gather between calls.
- Everyone has a private phone consolation session with me each month.
- There is homework to help you keep on track.

What do we cover?
The range of topics will be wide, and as always dependent on the individuals in this particular group, it always looks different - however, we will cover:

- Primary food - what are we really hungry for?
- Creating a better, kinder relationship with body/self.
- Self care (across a very broad holistic spectrum).
- Communication, relationships, trust.
- Personal growth (career, dreams, goals).
- Relationships.
.... and lots more juicy good stuff!

We will start small as we get to know each other, and build from there.

I have written about this group here and here if you want to read a little more.

There is a questionnaire application form to help me (and you) determine if this is the right class for you, so if this is sounding at all appealing, please just find that here fill it out and email back to me.

The class will include a lot of group interaction, as well as one-on-one phone coaching sessions with me - and there will be homework. We will be diving in deep, and it's gonna be beautiful.

I require a minimum of 5 women to get the group started, no group will be bigger than 10 people (for example, if I get 11 applicants I will form 2 groups of 6 and 5). It will be extremely intimate, safe and lovely.

The cost per person is $160 per month (with a definite commitment to three months), or a slight saving if you pay upfront ahead of time @ $450 for the three months. (There is always potential to expand the group beyond the three months if everyone is interested but for now, we start here.) This is a wonderful way to work with me intimately at half the price of my individual coaching. If you are extremely interested but this is financially prohibitive, please shoot me an email and we can talk.

"My Stiggly Women's Group changed my life!! Finding the group was honestly a watershed moment, and the group continues to provide support and inspiration. And such an amazing source of enduring friendships! I personally have traveled to Denmark, Greece and NYC just to spend time with these wonderful women, and that's just me. Thank you Sacha!" Kate Jetmore, Spain

"Being part of my Stiggly Women's Group has enabled me to look at my life with new and loving eyes. It has brought attention to solutions to "my issues" I would have never thought of on my own. These came to life purely as a process of being in a loving, caring, encouraging and safe environment. The funny thing is, this process was not only beneficial to me, but also to my soul-sisters. As a bonus, we all have new wonderful and forever-lasting friendships all around the world. I have had visitors from Spain and Canada and I myself got to visit Berlin and Athens. What a joy! What sweet life! Thanks Stiggly for helping me on this beautiful path of life." - Lisbeth, Denmark

Have you been feeling the call to spread your wings?
Are you craving community, deep conversation & exploration?
Do you find yourself wondering "what's next" for you?

There is no time like the present, so drop me a line today to let me know you are interested, then fill out the form, and let's get started!  It's going to be delicious!

Don't miss this opportunity - holistic healing a creative process, women's group

Holistic Healing: A Creative Process
with
Stiggly's Cozy Lovely Women's Group 2018!
Happy Juicy Tuesday Beautiful,
OK, I feel slightly tentative, wishing us all a happy spring, especially after last Wednesday's snowstorm, but a HUGE shift happened the day after the storm, when the sun came out and immediately started to melt it all.
When that (relentless) snow storm showed up last week, I know I was not alone in feeling pretty bummed out - it felt (as it always does) that winter was never gonna end. And so, it truly was the most delightful feeling to walk around Central Park the next morning, witnessing the crocus, snow drops and daffodils pushing through as the thaw was happening, and fast. Everything in my being altered - just like that. I felt less stiff in my joints, more giddy in my heart, and a spring most certainly was felt in my stride. I honestly felt a stronger sense of JOY!
It's happening folks!
And when spring happens most of us organically want to create change, release stuff, make room for something new and good. There's a lot of new and cool stuff brewing over here in Stigglyland and I will be sharing more about that in the upcoming weeks, but meanwhile, I want to shout out about my beautiful women's group. I have slightly shifted the start date, so now we get started on 1st May, with a bonus intro week starting 23rd April.
I get really excited thinking about this new group forming - of the possibilities of growth and healing, love and community. I absolutely adore working with groups of people committed to their own wellness.
Let's face it, we are all working on something. Everyone of us has something we'd like to tend to, shine a little more light on.  In a guided, structured class environment, with a support-system of like minded people, we find accountability and cheerleaders holding our hands as we do that beautiful inner healing "work". And everything feels easier.
How does it work?

Tarot Tuesday - Juicy Equinox - Happy Spring

Juicy Equinox
& Tarot Tuesday!
Happy first day of Spring lovely one!
With the weather as it is, I'm not quite feeling it yet, are you? However, the days are getting noticeably longer which serves to remind us that spring truly is around the corner!

Before I go further I want to remind you that it's time to sign up for my small women's group: Holistic Healing, A Creative Process - you can do so right here - we hope to get started next month. And if you missed my announcement about the group, you can read more about it here. (The link really should be working now for those of you who had trouble! But if you have trouble accessing the application, please just drop me an email).
I'm thrilled to reintroduce our resident intuitive tarot reader & healer, Daryl Kovalich, for this month's edition of "Juicy Tarot Tuesday". This week Daryl shares his wisdom about the equinox and balance - I just love what he's written for us - I got quite emotional as I read it! As always, he presents us with things to ponder and helps us take a fresh perspective on healing and wellness. He's even given us some reflective homework to kick start the new season!
Thank you Daryl, take it away:
Tarot Tuesday & What Some Hungry Seagulls Taught Me About Balance!

"Welcome to the Spring Equinox, Juicy Tuesday friends! Twice a year, the universe gives us a ready-made opportunity to re-center. The sun rises due east and sets due West. We have equal hours of day and night. We hear a lot of people talk about Balance.

Maybe it's just because I'm a recovering pessimist, but so many of the platitudes I read about balance make me uncomfortable. How many more articles can we read about spring awakenings, making a fresh start, welcoming in the light?

Don't get me wrong - I believe in all of those things. But too often, the authors make balance sound as easy as tapping like on someone's Facebook post. Too much of your life spent worrying about work or bills? No problem, just make some time to love your family and take a bath! As if.

So in honor of the equinox, I asked the cards to show us a new perspective.

Balance isn't just an either/or proposition!
Let's start with the Two of Wands, the card that brings clarity to our situation. Wands are the suit of fire, those sparks of life that inspire us to activate our creativity, sexuality and will. Wands teach us about what we do with our energy, how we hold onto it and how we let it go.

So what do these fiery chopsticks of energy represent? The other cards in the reading tell us we're dealing with our emotions (cups) and thoughts (swords). We might be tempted to focus on one and neglect the other. How many times have you felt like you needed to choose between your intuition or logic to make a decision?

Two of Wands tells us we can do both. We can work towards balance by releasing old emotional patterns and embracing new ways of understanding our potential.

It's time to make room for love and  compassion!
Whenever this card comes up, I can't help but smile. This person's joy is infectious. I imagine them to be a potter, so happy with their creations and ready to release them into the world. The suit of Cups teaches us about our emotional lives. We can think of these nine cups as all the ways we are intimate with ourselves and the people around us.

When this card is upright, the Nine of Cups is a celebration of all the work we've done to foster healthy relationships. But when it's reversed, the Nine of Cups asks us to
release stagnant emotional patterns. So how can we flip the script? Here are nine questions to help you bring this energy back into balance during the Equinox:
  1. What emotions have you been holding onto?
  2. Where are you taking in too much from others?
  3. Where are your emotional boundaries keeping you unnecessarily separated?
  4. What old patterns of relating to others are you relying on?
  5. Where are you afraid to be vulnerable?
  6. How can you feel more safe in relating to others?
  7. Where are you resisting your capacity for love?
  8. How can you bring more compassion to the way you see yourself?
  9. How can you approach the people in your life with a more open heart?
Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. It's ok if you can't answer all the questions. And your answers don't have to be grandiose.

Say goodbye to shame and self-doubt!
The suit of Swords helps us understand our search for truth and meaning - and the ways in which our thoughts help or hinder us. Human brains have evolved to keep us safe, not necessarily to help us evolve as spiritual beings. That's why, when you feel your consciousness expanding you might also freak out a little. It's like your brain pumping the brakes on experiences it doesn't know quite how to process.

The Ten of Swords shows us one of these situations. A person sits defeated, with ten negative, shameful thoughts stabbing their body. If it looks like overkill, that's because it is. In the Tarot, tens highlight the end of a cycle - and the beginning of a new one.

So what are we being asked to embrace in order to achieve greater balance? Take a look at this amazing quote from Pixie Lighthorse: "
Soul work asks us to honor what's true, not what we've been programmed to believe.

The beauty of the Ten of Swords reversed is in how it empowers us. It's as though all of our self-doubting thoughts lined up. One by one, we can assess whether they foster our growth or hold us back. We have wisdom to see if they're fact or just freak-out fictions projected by our over-active nervous systems.

The body brings the self together!
So how does this balancing of emotion and thought work in real life? I will answer that by sharing a story.

Yesterday, my partner and I were sitting on the beach, relaxing on our Winter vacation in Florida. I'd made us some sandwiches, and as we started to eat a group of seagulls formed around us. They began to squawk aggressively. My partner was concerned. I shushed him, saying something about how he worries too much. Before I could finish my sentence, a gull swooped under our umbrella and snatched the sandwich from my hand. One half left with the gull, the other cascaded down my chest and onto my shorts, leaving a greasy trail of disappointment.

After the comic timing of it all settled, I was overcome by feelings of shame and self-criticism. Like so many of us, I have food issues. I crave too much, I eat too much, I feel like crap. It's like the gull was slapping me in the face for enjoying an uninhibited day of fun in the sun. And then the voices started. That sandwich was too big anyway, you fat pig. You deserve to feel like this. Sound familiar?

There I was, sitting on a beautiful beach...feeling like a loser...no longer enjoying my vacation...which made me feel even worse. My way out of this shame spiral was like the Two of Wands. Those wands aren't just floating in space: they're held by a hand that's connected to a body. And while it's out of frame, the body is the key because it grounds us in reality.

Over the next few minutes, I allowed my body to feel these feelings of disappointment and shame. My head drooped, heart sank, chest caved. And then I tried to re-establish my connection  to the Earth. Each scrunch of sand under my feet, each lap of wave against my shins was like my body identifying negative thoughts and letting them go.

Like we discussed last month, our bodies are beautiful integrators of experience and knowing. We're all capable of more balance than we imagine."

I hope that was helpful to you. It sure was to me - as was my incredible reading I had with Daryl last week. It felt like a beautiful therapy session, where the cards and Daryl's guidance allowed me to tap into my own intuition and get some answers I'd been seeking. I recommend reaching out and making an appointment - and be sure to tell him that Stiggly sent you.

Sign up for the Stiggly Women's Group - starts in April

Holistic Healing: A Creative Process
with
Stiggly's Cozy Lovely Women's Group 2018!
Happy Juicy Tuesday Sweetheart...

I'm finding you a little later in the day than usual but it's still Tuesday and it's still Juicy! What's wonderful about your day so far? Did your train deliver you to work on time? Did you have a lovely lunch? Did you connect with a co-worker or friend? Anything exciting on your agenda for later? What fills your up with gratitude right this very moment? Take a big lovely inhale, fill up and then exhale a big sigh - and repeat.... oh while you're at it, ask your shoulders to please stop kissing your beautiful ear lobes! Aaaaaah!

Today I wanted to announce that I still have a few openings for my Spring 2018 Stiggly Women's Group. I'm looking forward to once again running a beautiful, love-infused intimate group for women, and I'd love for you to be a part of it.

Working with other women in a safe, guided, healing environment can be so very beautiful - and over the years I have watched women take big leaps of faith in their own lives.

I think everyone of us is working on something - an area of life in which we'd like to grow, emotional baggage we'd like to release, changes we'd like to make in our lifestyles, areas of our health we'd like to tweak, and so forth. That's part of being a wide-awake human. And in my experience - both personal and that of my clients - this is always easier to attain in company. A group setting, led by a wellness coach, really helps us to stay on track, to move passed blocks and get closer to our goals.

While we all show up to the class with different points of focus, we also find a common ground. We take one another by the hand, we support one another, and we hold each other accountable. It's really a great gift to know that you have people looking out for you, other people who care, and who also want you to reach your goals too!

The subtitle of this class is Holistic Healing - a Creative Process. Because it really is just that. It is holistic because we look at all the angles - family, career, spirituality, food, lifestyle, community. And it's a creative process, because it's MUCH more fun that way. When we put our collective creative minds, heads, and hearts together, we come up with new ways to reach our goals that we'd never have come up with before. Maybe we set new goals, maybe we realize our "dreams" weren't really ours, maybe we help each other shake things up a bit!

The time feels ripe to open a group right now! If you feel called to expand and go deeper, to learn more about yourself in order to help change the world, or even just your little section of it, and to be seen and heard like never before, jump on board. This is what these group classes are about: expansion, love, finding our voice! Let's do this!

My intention is to form a group that begins in April, and to run for three months. It doesn't matter where in the world you live, as long as you have access to the internet and are committed to showing up for yourself and your classmates. (One of these groups I ran had no overlapping countries, boasting members from Spain, France, Greece, Denmark, Canada and California, USA! It's the very best part of the global village aka the internet.) A minimum of 5 women are required to start the group, with a max head count 9. There is a questionnaire application form to help me (and you) determine if this is the right class for you, so if this is sounding at all appealing, please just find that here fill it out and email back to me, (or drop me a line if you have trouble accessing it and I will send it your way).

The class will include a lot of group interaction, as well as one-on-one phone coaching sessions with me - and there will be homework. We will be diving in deep, and it's gonna be beautiful.

The cost per person is $160 per month (with a definite commitment to three months), or a slight saving if you pay upfront ahead of time @ $450 for three months. (There is always potential to expand the group beyond the three months if everyone is interested but for now, we start here.) This is a wonderful way to work with me intimately at half the price of my individual coaching. If you are extremely interested but this is financially prohibitive, please shoot me an email and we can talk.
